Creating your own action figure with ChatGPT’s image tool is a fun way to show off your unique superpowers. It can also be a great addition to your marketing materials.
Here are some images I made for myself.
They’re not perfect… there are a few spelling mistakes and words in the wrong place… but it can easily be fixed using Canva or another graphics editing program.
Right now, I’m just showing you the first images I was able to create with the information I provided.

Here are the steps and prompts you need.
Step 1: Access ChatGPT’s Image Generation Feature
To begin, you’ll need access to ChatGPT’s image generation capabilities.
If you haven’t already, sign up for a ChatGPT Plus or Pro account, as image generation features are available to subscribers.
Step 2: Prepare Your Base Prompt
This isn’t the prompt you’ll use. I’m just showing you the starting prompt I used to develop the full prompt which you’ll customize in step 3 🙂
Create a collectible action figure version of [Your Name], known as ‘[Your Hero Name]’. Describe the figure like a toy packaging description: include signature outfit, accessories, catchphrases, special powers or features, what’s written on the box, and what this figure helps people do. Make it epic, fun, and a little cheeky. Include personality quirks, strengths, and one flaw for comic effect.
Step 3: Customize Your Prompt
Fill in your details in this template:
Create a collectible action figure version of [Your Name], known as ‘[Your Hero Name]’.
Describe the figure like a toy packaging description:
– Signature outfit: [Describe your character’s signature outfit – fun, bold, or brand-related]
– Accessories: [List 2–3 unique or funny tools, gadgets, or props your figure would have]
– Catchphrases: [Include 2–3 fun or iconic quotes you say, or ones that represent your brand personality]
– Special powers or features: [What are your character’s superpowers? E.g., turning chaos into order, calming clients, turning content into cash]
– What’s written on the box: [Add a tagline or punchy phrase that explains what this figure helps people do – ideally your mission in fun wording]
– Personality quirks & one comic flaw: [Add a mix of strengths and 1 flaw for humor – e.g., “Often found reorganizing their to-do list instead of doing it.”]
This was my prompt so I can see what I added and how I formatted it:
“Create a collectible action figure version of Gavin Mountford, known as “The Simplifier.” Describe the figure like a toy packaging description: include signature outfit (casual hoodie, AI-powered headset, and a backpack full of swipe files), accessories (giant highlighter of clarity, mini AI assistant, sticky notes of wisdom), catchphrases (“Keep it simple, Smartypants!”, “work smarter not harder”, and “Confused? Let’s fix that.”), special powers (turning chaos into checklists, calming overwhelmed biz owners), and what’s written on the box (“From confusion to clients in 6 simple steps!”). Add a comic flaw (occasionally gets distracted organizing his productivity system). Make it fun, epic, and perfect for personal branding.“
Step 4: Input Your Prompt into ChatGPT
Once you’ve customized your prompt, enter it into a new chat in ChatGPT. Make sure you’re in the image generation mode to receive visual outputs.
Step 5: Upload a Reference Photo (Optional)
For a more accurate representation, consider uploading a reference photo of yourself. This can help ChatGPT generate an image that closely resembles you.
Be mindful of privacy and content policies when uploading personal images.
Step 6: Generate and Review the Image
After submitting your prompt (and photo, if applicable), ChatGPT will generate an image of your action figure.
Review the output and note any areas that may need adjustment.
Step 7: Refine the Image
If the initial image isn’t perfect… perhaps some text is misspelled or the image is slightly distorted… you can:
Use image editing tools like Canva to make corrections.
Consult a graphic designer for professional assistance.
Remember, AI-generated images may require some manual tweaking to achieve the desired result.
Step 8: Save Your Image
Once you’re happy with your image, click it and save it to your device to be able to use later.
Overcoming Potential Challenges
Sometimes, ChatGPT may respond with an error message like:
“Thanks for the fun idea. However, I wasn’t able to generate the action figure image because this request violates our content policies. Since it involves generating an image based on a real person’s face, that crosses a line we can’t currently support.”
